Deleting Cookies (Web Browsing Data)
What are “Cookies”? A cookie is a small data file which tracks a user’s usage on the internet. These cookies do not harm the computer, but they can become corrupted over time. In becoming corrupted, many scenarios can take place. A user may notice their browser operating at a slower pace than normal. A user may also see changes in how the online site functions. When this happens, it is likely time to clear these cookies and start with a clean slate. Cookies are typically stored within the browsing data from which a user accesses the internet. This browsing data is stored in this specific browser. There are roughly give (5) main internet browsers MarketSharp users utilize. These include: 1. Internet Explorer 2. Mozilla Firefox 3. Google Chrome 4. Microsoft Edge 5. Safari If any of the scenarios mentioned previously become apparent, a user would want to clear the browsing data (cookies) within the browser they are currently using. Below you will find how to perform this operation within the five (5) browsers listed above. How to Delete Cookies in:
1. Internet Explorer
a. Click the “Gear” icon in upper-right corner of browser and Select “Internet Options” c. Click “Delete...” below Browsing History section d. Check the recommended options as seen below and Click “Delete” Note: The only items that need to be deleted are highlighted below e. Refresh the page
2. Mozilla Firefox
a.Click the icon in upper-right corner of browser and select "History" b. Click “Clear Recent History...” c. Ensure the recommended settings shown below are set Note: The only items that need to be cleared are highlighted below d. Refresh the page as you may have been logged out
3. Google Chrome
a. Click the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner of browser Hover over "More tools" and click "Clear browsing data..." b. Choose the option "All time" and click "Clear data" Note: The only items that need to be cleared are highlighted below c. Refresh the page as you may have been logged out
4. Microsoft Edge
a. Click menu icon (…) in upper right corner and choose “Settings” b. Click “Choose what to clear…” c. Click "Clear" Note: The only items that need to be cleared are highlighted below d. Refresh your page
5. Safari
a. Click “Safari” in the upper left corner of the browser b. Click “Preferences” c. Click on “Privacy” tab d. Locate and click “Remove All Website Data” e. Click “Remove Now” Why Delete Cookies Deleting cookies is a necessary process (periodically) to ensure your internet browser is functioning to its fullest potential. As previously stated, over time, cookies can be corrupted. In doing so, a browser will not operate in an ideal fashion. Note: For Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Microsoft Edge, ctrl + shift + delete will take you to the removing cookies and cache screen.
